Description
Flucort® Skin Cream is manufactured by Glenmark Gracewell Division and used to treat inflammatory skin conditions. Flucort® Skin Cream contains an active ingredient called Fluocinolone Acetonide. Fluocinolone Acetonide is a corticosteroid (also known as glucocorticoid derivative) with strong anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictive, and anti-itching properties. While Fluocinolone Acetonide helps reduce symptoms of skin disorders and decrease flare-ups, it does not fight the cause of the disease itself.
Indications:
- inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses;
- allergic reactions on the skin including rash, itching and dry patches;
- eczema;
- psoriasis;
- Seborrheic dermatitis;
- chronic eczematous otitis externa;
- moderate, refractory Atopic dermatitis.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Fluocinolone Acetonide inhibits the production of phospholipase A2, therefore reduces the formation of arachidonic acid. Inhibition of arachidonic acid prevents the growth of the main products in inflammation – histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines. Lack of these mediators of inflammation reduces existing inflammations and prevents occurrence of new flare-ups.
